DesignBuilder can import 3-D CAD Building Information Model (BIM) data including the geometry of walls, windows, roofs, shading devices etc using gbXML.  This allows building models created in Revit, ArchiCAD, Microstation and other tool to be loaded into DesignBuilder for further analysis.

In v7, you can now import EnergyPlus IDF files created in other tools (such as OpenStudio) into DesignBuilder. The IDF import tool allows building geometry, construction, glazing, materials, and shading data to be imported. EnergyPlus versions from 7.2 onwards are supported.
