When starting DesignBuilder a dialog is displayed multiple times prompting to install other software
Posted by Andy Tindale on 19-Mar-20 12:40 PM

You may have to keep clicking on the Cancel button until the dialogs stop appearing. The dialog boxes may also reappear during use of DesignBuilder at various other times.

Note that the application mentioned in the dialog in entirely unrelated to DesignBuilder and is not caused by a DesignBuilder dependency on another application.

This error only seems to occur on new installations of Windows. DesignBuilder developers have not been able to identify the cause of the problem, but we do know that it sometimes occurs with other applications (apart from DesignBuilder). We have found the problem usually goes away either by pressing OK on the dialogs, or running with administrator privileges, or by installing the most recent version of the 3rd party software.

We understand that using the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove information about the 3rd party software that was required to be installed can fix this issue.
