Converting a DesignBuilder Model to Version 7.3 Using XML Export

To convert a model from newer release to version 7.3, export the project to XML format and then import it back into the previous release.

Follow these steps:

1. Open your v2025.1 model in DesignBuilder v2025.1

2. Then export the project XML from File > Export > Export model as XML

3. Save the exported XML file on your documents.

4. Close DesignBuilder v2025.1 and open Installed Apps settings.

5. Select DesignBuilder v2025.1 and click Uninstall.

6. Download and install the previous v7.3.1. The installer is available here: https://designbuilder.co.uk/download/previous-versions

7. Open a new DesignBuilder session in v7.3.1 and keep it a t Opening screen.

8. At Opening screen, open the saved XML file from File > Import > Import model from XML.

Note that this special project XML is not the same as the 3D gbXML that can be imported into an existing project. It can only be imported to the program Opening screen.

9. The model should be now in version 7.3.1.
