DesignBuilder can import 3D CAD Building Information Model (BIM) data including the geometry of walls, windows, roofs, and local shading devices using gbXML. This allows building models created in Revit, ArchiCAD, Microstation and other tools to be loaded into DesignBuilder for further analysis.
In DesignBuilder v7.3, you can also import EnergyPlus IDF files created in other tools (such as OpenStudio) into DesignBuilder. The IDF import tool allows building geometry, construction, glazing, materials, and shading data to be imported. A full list of supported IDF objects is available on IDF Import - Supported IDF Model Objects
DesignBuilder version 7.3 supports IDF files saved in versions between 7.2 and 22.2.
You can find out more about DesignBuilder 3D import on the program help pages:
There is a DesignBuilder add-in for all recent versions of Revit, which can help to ease the workflow when transferring BIM models from Revit to DesignBuilder
