Surfaces missing when using Parallels application

Modified on Fri, 3 May at 11:50 AM

The DesignBuilder layout may fail to display some surfaces when running Parallels on MAC machines.

This
issue is normally caused by changes in the latest OpenGL implementation in the latest update of Parallels Desktop App Store Edition, which is more feature-rich, but does introduce compatibility issues in some applications.

As a temporary workaround, perform the following steps which will essentially switch back to the OpenGL implementation from the previous version.

1. Make sure that the virtual machine is shut down (Actions > Shut Down). If it is in a suspended state, please run it and then shut down (Actions > Shut Down).

2. Go to the virtual machine configuration (see: https://kb.parallels.com/117287 ) and click "Hardware > Boot Order > Advanced Settings > Boot flags".

3. Paste the following text in the "Boot flags" field:

video.gl3=2

4. Run the virtual machine and run DesignBuilder software.
