SBEMie 5.7b Building Sector and Building Rating

Modified on Fri, 21 Aug at 11:24 AM

The new NEAP version for Ireland (5.7b) uses the BER Primary Energy Threshold (kWh/m²year) to determine the rating. The threshold depends on the building type (sector), and the ratings run from A0 to G:

To ensure the correct BER, the Building Sector in the Model Options must match the building being assessed. From DesignBuilder v6.1.9 the Building Sector is used directly by the BER calculation.

When uploading the inp file into the InpBridge software, users will have to choose the correct building sector:

The process for using the InpBridge is discussed in our article:EPBD 2026: BER production
