How can I allow calculated natural ventilation when the outside air is warmer than inside

Modified on Mon, 7 Aug, 2023 at 2:50 PM

By default, EnergyPlus assumes that the purpose of natural ventilation is to cool the building and it shuts any open windows, vents and doors when the outside air temperature is warmer than inside air to avoid further heating the space. However, in some cases, you may wish to allow natural ventilation to occur regardless of the inside-outside temperature difference. This can be achieved by setting the Control mode from the default 2-Temperature to 4-Constant. Control mode can be set at building, block and zone levels on the HVAC tab under Natural Ventilation > Options headers.
