Using Search Function in Results Viewer

Modified on Thu, 9 Oct at 4:43 PM

DesignBuilder Results Viewer includes a built-in search function that allows users to quickly locate specific data in simulation results.

This feature can significantly improve navigation and analysis when reviewing outputs such as zone PMVs, temperatures, or schedules.

Steps to Use the Search Function

  1. Open Results Viewer and load your simulation results as normal.
  2. Click once on any column header (for example: Report Type, Area, Schedule, or Units).
  3. After selecting a column header, press Ctrl + F on your keyboard.
  4. A search bar will appear at the top of the results table.
  5. Type your search term (e.g., “PMV”) in the search bar. Results Viewer will automatically highlight and align all matching entries in the table.
  6. To close the search bar, press Ctrl + F again.

Example

In the example shown below (refer to the attached image), searching for PMV neatly arranges all zone PMV data, making it easier to review comfort results.

Tips for Using Results Viewer

  • Clicking on column headers allows sorting by that column, which combined with the search function can help analyze specific datasets faster.
  • Use the search function to quickly locate key terms like room names, schedules, or unit types without scrolling through long lists of results.
  • The search bar toggles on and off with Ctrl + F, so it can be used intermittently as needed during analysis.
