How does DesignBuilder Evaluation, Licensing and Activation work?

Modified on Thu, 06 Jun 2024 at 04:55 PM

When you first install DesignBuilder the software runs unlicensed and an evaluation activation code will need to be generated.

The single-user evaluation license can be generated by selecting Help->License... and clicking the Evaluate button.

You will need to enter your contact details.

You will be emailed a single-user evaluation code valid for 30 days.

After you receive the email with an activation code, copy the activation code and return to the DesignBuilder Licence Manager dialog.

Press the Licence button to open the Licence Manager Wizard.

Select the Activation code option, confirm your user details and press Next.

On the next page paste your activation code into the text box.

For more detailed information see: Licensing and activation

This trial license allows you to try out a fully functional version of the software to check that it meets your needs and is compatible with your computer. One restriction with evaluation licences is that a "nag screen" is displayed prior to each simulation or visualisation session. For the full restrictions list see Evaluation License Restrictions

When you buy Single User licences to use DesignBuilder, you are sent an e-mail containing a license key and information on when the licences expire (if ever).  You should copy (Ctrl-C) the Activation Code from the e-mail you received when you bought the software and paste (Ctrl-V) directly into the License dialog (accessed from the Help menu). When you paste the license key the software attempts to activate the license over the Internet, and if successful, validates the license keys and unlocks the modules.
